Oasis or The Prodigy to replace Depeche Mode at Pinkpop but it ends up being Krezip… crazy

Pinkpop boss Jan Smeets has been quoted by the Belga press agency saying that Depeche Mode will most probably not be perfoming at this year’s Pinkpop festival in Holland. Smeets says he’s trying to book Oasis or The Prodigy as a replacement act. As if…

In the end Pinkpop asked Krezip, once again, to act as a replacement… crazy.

As www.side-line.com reported, Dave Gahan has been diagnosed having bladder cancer. We wish him all the best whilst recovering!

Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan hospitalised - tour schedule jeopardised

The Greek Depeche Mode fans that had gathered at the Terra Vibe Park near Athens yesterday evening didn’t really get the show they had expected. Over 30.000 people got the not so pleasant message that the show was canceled due to Gahan being rushed to hospital. The announcement was followed by bottles being thrown on stage by enraged fans though the venue was cleared soon after without further incidents.

According to the first reports Gahan suffers from stomach and further intestinal problems and is currently being examined in a hospital near the capital of Greece. It’s not sure when the band will continue the tour. They are expected to perform in Istanbul, Turkey on May 14th followed by a gig on May 16th in Bucharest, Romania.

In more not so pleasant news, it seems the father from Andy Flether passed away last weekend.

Pre-sales Depeche Mode live CD’s new tour start

Side-Line Magazine announces that the pre-sales for the Depeche Mode live CD’s of the new tour have started:

As we announced about a month ago, Depeche Mode are ready to repeat the Live Here Now approach for their upcoming world “Tour of The Universe 2009″. The news has been confirmed by Liveherenow.com who has started the pre-sales for the live recordings right here. This means that every concert will be released as a 2CD set and download. It will be the second time that Depeche Mode chooses this approach. Almost the complete last half of their 2005/2006 “Touring The Angel” tour was also available as ‘legal bootlegs’ via the EMI company Live Here Now. Just like last time, fans will be able to buy vouchers at the shows and online. The 2CD versions are 18 UK Pound (if you buy 3 you get one for free) and the downloads are 10 UK Pound (also here, if you buy 3 you get one for free) .

Small detail, the first try-out gig in Luxemburg is not featured in the list.

Live Here Now was established in 2004 to produce and sell live concert recordings within minutes of an event finishing. The project is run by a team of industry professionals and the company’s first release was recorded at Camber Sands in December 2004, capturing Throbbing Gristle live. Later on the releases were post-produced and sent off a few days to a few weeks after the gigs took place which increased the quality largely.
