Depeche Mode announce tracklist 'Sounds Of The Universe' album
Depeche Mode have announced the track listing for their 12th studio album “Sounds Of The Universe”, to be released on April 20th, on Mute. The release is preceded by their new single “Wrong”, out April 6th. “Sounds Of The Universe” was once again produced by Ben Hillier, who previously produced their 2005 album “Playing The Angel”, and recorded in Santa Barbara and New York, respectively the cities where Martin Lee Gore and Dave Gahan live. New Depeche Mode album 'Sound of the universe' out on April 20th / 21st
Depeche Mode have announced the release date of their long-anticipated new studio album, “Sounds Of The Universe”. You can expect the album in the (download) shops on April 20th in Europe and 21st in the USA via Mute Records. Recorded in Santa Barbara and New York, Depeche Mode returned to using a lot of vintage gear, from analogue synthesizers to drum machines, in order “to conjure up the retro-futuristic arrangements featured on the album” as the press release puts it.
Just like on their 2005 studio album, “Playing The Angel”, “Sounds Of The Universe” features writing credits for both Martin Gore and Dave Gahan. The release also marks a reunion between the band and producer Ben Hillier. And if you wondered what kind of tracks you can expect, here’s a small list: stomping beats and screeching synthesizers on “Wrong”, the sensual lounge-music ballad “Jezebel”, the sci-fi gospel-blues hymn “In Chains” and the modern electronics / beat driven “Hole To Feed”.
Good to know, a lot of extra tracks have been recorded and those will end up on a deluxe version of the album.

The new scam: booking fake Depeche Mode shows
Pollstar has a rather funny story regarding an impostor trying to con promoters into paying deposits for bogus future Depeche Mode shows. Here are the details… For the past month, someone has been impersonating Sensible Events (a Live Nation company) managing director Andrew Zweck and tried to pass him or herself off as Depeche Mode’s agent. The scam came to light just before an Israeli promoter was to send the impostor euro 150.000 as pre-payment for a May 9 show in the country’s Caesaria Amphitheatre in Kessaria. According to Zweck the fraud was of an extremely high quality in terms of the language used in the correspondence. The apparent fraudster may have duped others as e-mails from the bogus address have already popped up in other countries. (Thanks to Depeche-Mode.com for the tip)
