When Depeche Mode teamed with Apple to launch the first iTunes Pass, it was said that only US-fans would get exclusive content. But that seems to be incorrect. The content will not differ from what EU fans will be able to buy on CD, it’s just the timing that is different. So the press text that said “With iTunes Pass, music fans can get new and exclusive singles, remixes, video and other content from their favorite artists over a set period of time, delivered to their libraries as soon as they’re available” is a bit inaccurate.
The iTunes Pass is available for a one-time fee of $18.99 that covers fifteen weeks of content.
Nevertheless it’s quite an interesting move. And one would assume that the concept of the iTunes Pass will be extended to other bands over other periods of time. Let’s hope they’ll extend it offering “bootleg” live tracks that they would normally have to attend a concert to get. Something that would make this service very much worth it.
